P is for Pumpkin

It's time to kick off the holiday season! I love this time of year and I love doing holiday projects.

Today for preschool we looked at the letter "p" and learned the word "find." We did some number sense activities and decorated Owen's pumpkin named Ralph. It was a good day :)

Opening Circle Time

We sang some of my favorite first grade Halloween songs and did the motions. Let me know if you're interested in knowing more about this!

Warm-Up/Review

We focused on the letter "p" as well as the number "8" and reviewed the letter "i" and the number "9". We reviewed our sight words as well as learned the new word "find." We are focusing on recognizing the word "purple" in text.

Story Time

This is one of my all time favorite Halloween books!

Handwriting

Whiteboard Practice

Letter Card Practice

Letter Activity

I simply drew the letter "p" and let Owen fill in the letter with candy pumpkins.

Next we decorated a little pumpkin that I bought at the store. We used Pom balls for the hair, a pipe cleaner for the mouth and a sharpy to draw the eyes (I completely forgot to buy some googly eyes!).

 Owen named him Ralph.

Math Game

Owen used on of our busy bag activities to review our shapes.

 Closing Circle Time

We read a few more Halloween books that I have in my library. We just can't get enough of them!
