Picture Update...AND how I got myself locked in the car...

Okay so I know this is WAY late but I wanted to post some pics from our ugly sweater party and from new year's eve. I am trying to stay organized and I really want all of our pictures in one place so that one day I can finally update our non-existing photo album. So here goes:

This is at our Ugly Sweater party which was such a blast! Here are the beautiful girls in our awesome sweaters! I loved Catherine's especially because she jingled when she walked.

The boys...Love the pose babe!

New Year's Eve!! I couldn't get my hat to stay up!

Not the best picture of me..but I did win the "Funniest Year" award!

If you are wondering why my year was so funny I will explain.. And I must add that I am not very proud of this time in my life, I just have to laugh because what else are you gonna do? So one beautiful sunny Sunday I was leaving church without my husband because he was sick. As I walk out to my car and get into my car and put the key into the ignition I realize it won't start. So I try again. Nope still won't start. Every time I get into the car I have this habit of locking the doors (maybe I'm paranoid or something I don't know). So after realizing that the car won't start I decide I am going to need to walk home. This is where the problem begins. The door won't open. So I think "great I'm locked inside my car." As I sit there wondering and why the door won't open after numerous tries, I realize that my phone is at home and I have no way of communicating with anyone. As some of you now know, I am a little bit claustrophobic, so sitting in the closed vehicle with nowhere to go and no one to call kind of led me into a little panicking. So I begin to kind of panic and realize that the only way out (without suffocating ofcourse) is to climb into the back seat and pound on the window for help. So I do so and after a really nice couple realizes I am not just a kid waving to them they come help me. I tell them through the window that my husband keeps a hidda key attached to our car (I won't tell you where for safety reasons of course). They get down on their hands and knees and begin looking. All the while I am trying to calm down and stop the tears from coming. After 5 minutes of looking they are unable to find the key. So I think why don't you call my husband and he will come down and rescue me? They then tell me that they also do not have a cell phone with them (p.s. now i carry mine everywhere!) So as I am sitting there thinking of what to do and before they run off to find a phone I think "Wait! I let's try the door again). But this time I manually pull up the lock on my automatic locked doors and whala! I am free! So pretty much I was too panicky to realize that all I needed to do was manually unlock my door instead of pushing the electronic button.

I have learned many things from this experience:
1. I need to remember that doors weren't always locked electronically that manually unlocking the door does work.
2. You cannot suffocate in a car (unless it's really hot outside)
3. Always carry your cell phone

It is still difficult to look that cute couple in the eye when I see them at church. But at least I made some new friends! And I won the "Funniest Year" award. Not bad??

Julie--your story about getting locked in is so funny. Ever since I have started nursing school I have been brain-fried. I have locked my keys in the car or left the lights on over ten times. (I think I had only done it once in all the years before!)

One night after work (around 8:30 pm) I couldn't start my car so I thought I must have left the lights on. (I had replaced the entire battery only a week before because I had left the lights on at work.) I had to get a ride to my mother-in-law's house, then call my mechanic, and get a ride back to my car so he could meet me there. (Nice guy!)

It turns out that I had turned on the car and moved into reverse so fast that my clunky old car hadn't really started yet. After that it wasn't in park, so I couldn't restart it. The mechanic put it into park and it worked just fine.

Oh, yeah, and I lock myself out of the house all the time. I finally gave a key to a neighbor.

Very Funny story Julie..... I actually locked Easton and my keys in the car on a very hot summer day and had to call the police! So see you are not so bad! :) I had to run to a neighbors house because my phone was also in the car.

Julie, I'm so glad you blogged that story, it is one of my favorites. Don't feel bad, my sister locked herself in a hotel bathroom in Arusha, Tanzania and they had to break down the door to get her out!

That's okay, I still love you!

Actually, after reading your friends' comments, I think I've done just about everything they have too--including locking Jadon in the car on a hot day. The owner of the dry cleaners was nice enough to give me a ride home to get another key and not all CPS on me....

Oh yeah, and your friend that didn't have her car in park. Did that too...except we were out TPing with the YW (mind you I was one of their leaders) and we had to call the other leader's husband to "jump start" my car. When it still didn't start he asked if the car was in park. Yeah, I have a hard time looking at him too...
