Lucky the Leprechaun

There used to be a little green man named Lucky that would visit my first grade classroom all year long and then finally reveal himself on St. Patrick's Day. He would leave little green notes on students' desks and sometimes leave the classroom looking like a hurricane hit it just to let us know that he's watching; watching for good behavior, kind words and good listeners. Naturally my first graders asked about him almost daily and got so excited when he visited. Of course they never saw him...he was a magical leprechaun. But thanks to my good sport of a husband, Tyson would be Lucky (or Lucky's human version as I would tell the kids) on St. Patrick's Day and come to school dressed in green bringing gold coins for the kids. Naturally they love Tyson so this was a treat in and of itself. But they loved to ask him questions about Lucky the Leprechaun and they were more excited for this day than any other. Along with Lucky coming to school, we had a green brunch with green juice and green pancakes.

So I guess I have been feeling a little "teacher" void in me so I decided to do my own little green brunch with our friends. A leprechaun visited showing footprints around the apartment leading to a bowl of gold coins (chocolate). We had a green brunch equipped with green pancakes, green quiche, green fruit kabobs and green muffins. Oh and we had a yummy lime sorbet and 7up drink. I made green shamrock necklaces out of play dough for the kids to wear, green play dough to play with and had a card decorating table for them to make St. Patrick Day cards. It was definitely a success (even though Owen was sick with double ear infections and a high fever) and I'd definitely do it again.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Love the pictures of all the kids, I am especially partial to the ones of my little guy naturally. I love how Max & Owen look so chill and relaxed. It was wonderful Julie and I am glad you felt the teacher void and that we were able to benefit from it and hopefully help you fill it.

How fun! You're so cute to throw a little party for everyone. Wish I was there : ) And I'm glad you liked the idea of documenting your life for a week... nice that Owen still takes 2 naps!
