Beautiful San Diego.....one day I'd die to live here! My sister and her family do live there so at least we get to visit often. My brother Matt decided he wanted to receive his endowments down at the San Diego Temple a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful day and a very memorable one too. I am so proud of my brother for choosing to serve the Lord for two years. He is truly a remarkable young man full of love and humility. He has a strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and will be an amazing missionary. He has been called to serve in the Tulsa, Oklahoma mission and left just this past Wednesday for the MTC. I am so happy for him but I must admit, it definitely was sad saying good-bye to my baby brother. I feel a little more protective over him then I have of my other brother. I'm not sure if it's because he's the youngest or he lived with us for a few months, or what but I definitely shed a few tears during our good bye. It's so bittersweet sending off a missionary. I am just so excited for the experiences he is going to have and for the many lives he is going to change.

Always being a good uncle. Here he is with Zachy....just too cute. Since we are still in California I don't have all of my pictures so I don't have one of Matt and Owen together. But Matt has always been a wonderful uncle to Owen. He would come over at least once every two weeks to help me out. Especially in the beginning. He would just come over to do my dishes or to hold Owen while I showered. He has always been one to serve, but mostly in his quiet ways.

With the woman who raised him! My mom is truly special and has raised two wonderful missionaries. Matt has always been close to my mom and I know they will miss their frequent dinner and movie dates.

Matthew and his cute girlfriend Haley. She has been a wonderful example for Matt and the two of them just couldn't get cuter! I'd love for her to stick around....no pressure Haley! ;)

Matthew and his daddy. I know my dad will miss Matt like crazy!
I can't wait to write to Matt and to strengthen our relationship. I found when Greg was gone that through many letters our relationship grew even stronger. It's definitely a special time when you have a missionary gone. Our family has been blessed and I know will continue to be blessed as Matthew serves.
We love you Elder Erickson!
