We have had quite the week leading up to Easter Sunday including a few Easter egg hunts, egg coloring and of course church. It has been so much fun to watch Owen get so excited for the holidays.
I am in charge of our Ward play group and so naturally thought it would be fun to have an Easter egg hunt at the park. I organized stations as well which included: sugar cookie making (my friend DeLisa got this one all ready), necklace making, and fun with bubbles and chalk. The kids seemed to love it and we had a great turnout just like last year.
Owen didn't really understand the idea of looking and gathering eggs but was much more interested in opening them all. He was pretty disappointed when he opened 3 in a row with raisins! :)
{an attempt at a picture of me and the boys}
Each year Midwestern has an Easter event equipped with the Easter bunny, crafts, games, bounce houses and of course a giant Easter egg hunt. Tyson and I took the boys and it was pretty packed. I have noticed that packed events such as these are just too stimulating for Owen. He doesn't know what to do with himself! After a few meltdowns and being scared to death by the Easter bunny, we decided to find a spot of shade on the outskirts of the mayhem to relax and have a snack. Once we were in our spot it was like night and day with Owen. He was such a happy boy and loved just sitting with us. Kind of sounds crazy to me that he'd rather do this than be running around playing and having fun! But I know my little guy is a sensitive one and so this was just what he needed to be happy. :)
I sure love this little boy!
Here's the craziness! This event is open to the community and so it is always way crowded. This Easter egg hunt was only for 0-3 years old!
After about one minute of "hunting" Owen got clocked in the head by a heavy Easter basket a mom was carrying. She was running to catch up to her son when she accidentally hit Owen, and hard. The poor thing was so upset.
And the egg hunt was all over in about 3 minutes, seriously.
I love getting kisses from my little chubbalub.
The afternoon after the Midwestern event I had some friends over to color Easter eggs. My friend Kaylee had the great idea and asked if I would host and of course I said yes! I love doing things like this too and it was so much fun to hang out while letting our little ones play together.
Our festive week ended with a wonderful Easter Sunday spent together. In the morning I decided to hold off giving Owen his Easter basket and instead we listened to church songs and had a little lesson about the Resurrection. I loved the fact that we were able to focus on Christ and His Resurrection all morning and then again at church BEFORE getting to the materialistic stuff. Don't get me wrong, I think it's all fun and especially feel this way after having kids, but it was nice to focus on the real meaning of Easter for most of the day. After church got over at 4pm I gave Tyson and Owen their treats and baby Graham a cute outfit. :)
At the end of the day I attempted to get a few pictures of the boys. It sure is hard to get them both looking at me and smiling! But I think they are the cutest little guys around.
It was a wonderful day spent with loved ones and being reminded of the huge sacrifice the Savior made for us and the wonderful blessing of life after death. I am so grateful for my Savior and His Resurrection. I know that my Redeemer lives.
