It's Back to School Time!

It's that time again! On Monday I started my third year of teaching First Grade. I can't believe it's already time for another school year. I have spent a few weeks preparing my classroom and the first day began without a hitch (thank goodness). I have a darling group of kids and I only have 21 students! Yay! It's so nice to be able to start the year and actually feel like I know what I'm doing. I wasn't even anxious...just excited. The kids' excitement is contagious too. They are just so excited to learn, make new friends and just be back in school. And my class is so excited that I"m having a baby. They tell me all the time. In fact they will randomly make comments in the middle of class and say "Mrs. Tidwell, you're having a baby." And I'm like "no way!" Or they'll say matter of factly "Your baby eats what you eat because he's inside of you." Another great thing to know. I am not just known as "Mrs. Tidwell" I am now know as "Mrs. Tidwell...she's having a baby." It's awesome. Six year-olds crack me up! I need to write down all of their little comments so I can remember them.

Anyways, I do have to say that I have the best husband ever. He got up early on the first day of school to make me my favorite breakfast: french toast and chocolate milk. And then when I got home from school he had gotten me flowers and insisted that we go out to dinner to celebrate. He seriously knows how to make my day and make me happy.

So here's to a new school year for teachers, parents and students!!

I do this every year and it cracks me up! The kids' perception of themselves is priceless.
